Photograph by John

Croatia, explored honestly. Photograph by John is an open library of hand-picked spots across Croatia — from famous beaches and UNESCO old towns to abandoned ruins and viewpoints most travellers never find.

Every location is real, mapped, and free to browse. There is no paywall, no signup, no “unlock 500 spots” upsell. If a guide helps you, share it with a friend.

A track record you can verify

I don’t just write about Croatia, I help map it. As a Google Local Guide Level 9 (top tier, worldwide), I’ve built up a body of work Google itself has shown to millions:

  • 22,281,150+ photo views across my 9,000+ mapped photographs
  • 240 reviews of real places
  • 180 fact-checks performed on Google Maps
  • 29 places added to the map that weren’t there before
  • 51,557 guide points toward the Level 10 ceiling

That discipline carries straight into this site. When I don’t know a price, an opening hour or an access detail, I say so rather than guess, because that is exactly what fact-checking 180 places teaches you. Read my 240 reviews on Google →

What you’ll find

  • 650+ locations across all six Croatian regions
  • 17 categories — beaches, hidden coves, viewpoints, abandoned places, bunkers, caves, waterfalls, mountains, national parks, spomeniks and more
  • Real coordinates from OpenStreetMap, with directions to OpenStreetMap and Google Maps
  • Honest practical info — when we don’t know a price or opening hour, we say so instead of guessing

How we’re different

Most Croatia maps hide their full list behind a paywall. We don’t. The entire library is open and searchable. We’d rather you have a great trip than a checkout page.

Accessibility

This site is built to be fast and readable for everyone, including visitors with dyslexia. Use the Read button in the header to switch to a dyslexia-friendly font and spacing. The site is also designed to be fully readable by AI assistants and search engines.

Map data

All coordinates and map data come from OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database License (ODbL). We’re grateful to the volunteers who mapped Croatia.
