This route is a true treat for nature enthusiasts. It features playful riverbeds of the Draga and Mirna, where the water has carved out lakes, rapids, and waterfalls. Notably, the Mirna River is adorned with holes, pits, and columns shaped by the water.

The hike begins below Buzet, at the Mirna Bridge near the Istrian waterworks. We start upstream along the northern side of Mirna. After the first kilometer, we leave the Mirna River and enter a forest, where the path follows the rocky bed of the Draga River.

Expect to climb 100 meters of elevation and encounter five stunning waterfalls within a short distance. The narrow path meanders along and even over the water, passing beneath impressive rocks that attract climbers. Difficult sections are secured with ropes to aid the climb. Along the way, you’ll find abandoned old coal mine shafts, which can be explored if you have a flashlight.

After the fifth waterfall (2.8 km), we emerge from the Draga riverbed and continue through the forest towards Selce (3.4 km). From there, we head southeast along a road that runs between the forest and fields. Just before the fifth kilometer, we cross the Draga gorge again, and shortly after, we reach a macadam road. We take it south, turning right at the first turn onto a forest track.

Soon, we encounter dilapidated stone houses overgrown with ivy in the villages of Glistonija and Šćaveti, part of Blatna Vas. Here, we reach the trail’s highest point (281 m). After about a kilometer on a smooth road, we arrive in Kuhar, another hamlet of Blatna Vas, known for its harmony with nature. The trail then leads us south towards Kotli (7.7 km). After refreshing by the Mirna River below the sixth waterfall and enjoying the view, we continue on a forest path above the river, passing the seventh waterfall. We cross the Pengari Mirna three times. Around the 12th kilometer, we complete the loop and return to fertile fields along the river. The final stretch is a walk of just over a kilometer along the south bank of the Mirna to the starting point of this beautiful trail.
