Ivanić-Grad

A former Habsburg military border post east of Zagreb, now known for its Naftalan therapeutic naphtha baths drawn from local oil wells.

Ivanić-Grad sits in Central Croatia, a part of Croatia with its own character, and the city & town is the reason most people stop.

Mornings are quieter and cooler. Most old towns wake up slowly, so an early coffee is worth the effort.

Timing your trip

Ivanić-Grad is at its best from May to October. June and September are the sweet spot, warm water, long days, and thinner crowds than high July and August. Winter shows a quieter, cheaper and surprisingly handsome country, especially inland and in the cities.
