Otok

A town in the Vukovar Syrmia plain whose name simply means island, after the old river meanders that once cut it off at flood time.

Otok sits in Slavonia, a part of Croatia with its own character, and the city & town is the reason most people stop.

Mornings are quieter and cooler. Most old towns wake up slowly, so an early coffee is worth the effort.

Timing your trip

The best window for Otok runs May to October. June and September balance warmth and thinner crowds; July and August are busy and hot. Out of season, winter shows a calmer, cheaper Croatia that rewards the inland cities.
