Porec Town

A Roman settlement (Parentium) whose 6th century Euphrasian Basilica, with its glittering Byzantine mosaics, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It passed through Venetian and Austrian rule to become one of Istria’s main resorts.

Porec Town sits in Istria, a part of Croatia with its own character, and the city & town is the reason most people stop.

Mornings are quieter and cooler. Most old towns wake up slowly, so an early coffee is worth the effort.

Best time to visit

Plan Porec Town for May to October, with June and September the quietest warm months. July and August bring the crowds and the heat; winter is cheaper and handsomer than people expect, especially in the inland cities.
