Vošac is a peak on the seaward edge of the Biokovo mountain, the great karst wall that rises directly behind the Makarska Riviera, and from its top there is the classic high view over the coast, the Riviera towns and the islands of Brač and Hvar. At roughly 1,400 metres, it is one of the most rewarding viewpoints in the park and one of the most accessible of the high Biokovo peaks.

The peak is reached by a marked path from the Makarska side, climbing through pine and then open karst to the rocky summit, and it is a popular sunset walk for those staying on the Riviera. The view, of the long line of the coast, the islands and the open sea, is the reward for the climb.

Vošac sits on the edge of the Biokovo Nature Park, and it is one of the peaks visible from the coast itself, the great wall of pale stone that looms over Makarska. The new Biokovo Skywalk viewpoint sits on the plateau not far from here, reached by the mountain road rather than on foot.

For photographers, the view over the Riviera and the islands from Vošac at sunset is one of the great coastal panoramas. Carry water and a layer for the summit, and start the climb in the cool of the late afternoon in summer.
